This big polar bears don't hibernate in winter, and they live in the Arctic Circle. Even more, they spend a lot of time in the water, really cold water.
How can they do it?
To answer this question, we are going to do two things:
Watch this Magic School Bus episode about the Arctic.
Do this experiment, using really cold water, butter and two fingers. We will fill two bowl equally with ice and water and let them sit for 5 minutes. As they sit, we will apply butter to one of our pointer fingers to represent animal fat, and we will leave our second pointer uncover. We will place each finger into its own bowl of water and see which finger we can keep in longer.
