T is for Teacher: My Teacher is a Monster

A young boy named Bobby has the worst teacher. She is loud, she yells, and if you throw paper airplanes, she won't allow you to enjoy recess. She is a monster! Luckily, Bobby can go to his favorite spot in the park on weekends to play. Until one day... he finds his teacher there! Over the course of the day, Bobby learns that monsters are not always what they seem.

G is for Goldilocks: Goldilocks and the three...DINOSAURS

Today we discovered a new book about Goldilocks. But this time she didn't go to the house of the bears. This time, she went to the house of Papa Dinosaur, Mama Dinosaur... and a Dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway.

One Day, for no particular reason, they decided to tidy up their house, make the beds and prepare chocolate pudding. They were definitely not setting a trap for some succulent little girl.

We don't hibernate!!!!

This big polar bears don't hibernate in winter, and they live in the Arctic Circle. Even more, they
spend a lot of time in the water, really cold water.

How can they do it?

To answer this question, we are going to do two things:

PIJAMA DAY

Finally, Pyjama Day is here!!! The teacher was ready to sleep for hours, but it looked like she was the only one...

So we decided to work!! And we chose this Robert Munch book: PYJAMA DAY.

Andrew found perfect pyjamas, that made him sleep right away. That is not a good idea if you are at school and it is Pyjama Day.

I is for Irene: Duck at the Door

We have been working with animals that hibernate in winter, but there are other animals that actually
don't hibernate. Instead, they migrate to a warmer region during winter time.

In this funny book, Max decided NOT to migrate with his flock, and it was a big problem, but not just for him, but also for Irene.

Hibernation Science

We have had two "bears" in the room today: A black bear and a brown bear.  Both were warm when they went into their caves, ready to hibernate. The bears are actually two towels, that were warmed up with a hair dryer. We quickly fold the "brown bear" in half and half again, then roll up tightly.  But we didn't fold the "black bear". We compared the warmth of the two towels.  We found that the rolled towel retained more heat, just as a hibernating animal stays warm by curling itself up in a ball.

Book Character Day

Today we have a little celebration at St. Margaret School, it is Book Character Day.

We have had lots of different animals, princesses, superheros, ans a very big hat, that everybody knows: The Cat in the Hat.

T is for Tom: The Time it Took Tom

This is a funny book all about time, colors and a little artist named Tom, who really really really likes red. He loved red so much... he even painted his own cat red, but I don't think the cat was very happy.

Cooking numbers

We were trying to find the way to "cook" numbers, I mean, how can we get number six, or nine or ten, using to different colors of snapping cubes. We have to build a tower of blocks with two different colors to represent the number that appears on the card.. 

The only thing is, remember, we need to try the numbers in Spanish.

An Apple Investigation

We have been working with apples, and we decided to to explore and get to know them a little bit more.

So first, we took a look at the color of the apples we had in the room, YELLOW, GREEN or RED. That was an easy one.

Then, we found out how tall the apple was:
